Bradley “Bubs” Scalf

Mr. Bradley “Bubs” Scalf, 16, of Rocky Face, departed this life Wednesday afternoon, July 1, 2009, at the local hospital surrounded by his loving family.

Bradly was born Nov. 23, 1992, in Dalton. Bradley was a special needs child with Down syndrome who didn’t know it. He would have returned to Northwest High School this fall as a sophomore. Bradley never saw himself as having any disadvantages. Bradley won multiple gold and silver medals with Special Olympics. The University of Georgia did a study and determined that Bradley was the highest developed child in Georgia with Down syndrome. He was a member of the Church of God of the Union Assembly.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Phil Phillips and Nellie Goff.

He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Melanie and Ron Haynes of Rocky Face; father and stepmother, Thomas William Jr. and Mary Scalf of Dalton; sister, Brooke Scalf of Carrollton; stepbrother, Cameron Dixon of Dalton; stepsisters, Brandi, Caitlin and Jessica Haynes, all of Rocky Face and Gracie Bowen of Dalton; grandparents, Thomas and Clara Scalf of Rocky Face; stepgrandparents, Regenia Haynes of Tunnel Hill and Ronald and Betty Lozicki of Chatsworth; several aunts, uncles and cousins. We have enjoyed a little touch of heaven for the past 16 years because we have been touched by one of God’s angels.

Services to celebrate the life of Mr. Bradley “Bubs” Scalf are Sunday at 3 p.m. at the Church of God of the Union Assembly with the Rev. Trey Starnes and the Rev. Kaylon Hughes officiating.

He will be laid to rest at West Hill Cemetery with Lane Hall, Bobby Cartlidge, Cameron Cartlidge, Anthony Allen, Caleb Cantrell and Cody Cantrell serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
