Mrs. Lena Mae Kennemur Reece, 91, of River Street, Ellijay, died Friday, July 3, 2009.
Mrs. Reece was born July 1,1918, in Gilmer County, the daughter of the late Larkin H. and Era Walker Kennemur. She lived most of her life on River Street in Ellijay until moving to Peachtree Estates Assisted Living Center in Dalton in 2004.
Affectionately known as Miss Ellijay, she was loved for her kindness, sense of humor, feisty sprit and positive attitude. She was a homemaker and member of the Ebenezer Baptist Church, for the past several years had been affiliated with Mount Vernon United Methodist Church in Rocky Face. He husband Clay B. Reece precedes her in death.
Survivors include; daughters and sons-in-law: Glenda (Short) and Jack Brown of LaGrange, Lynelle and Stan Stewart, Dalton; special friend, Ben Arp, Ellijay; three grandchildren, Amy Brown Burnette, Carter Reece Brown and Jeb Stewart Arp; four great-grandchildren , Joe and Grace Burnett, Jack and Mary Beth Brown, sister, Faye Anderson, Winston-Salem, N.C.
Services are Monday at 11 a.m. from the chapel of Bernhardt Funeral Home. The family will meet with friends today from 2 until 6 p.m. at the funeral home at 163 River St. in Ellijay.
