Mrs. Joyce Norma Phillips, 80, of Chatsworth, departed this life Wednesday evening, July 31, 2013, at Hospice of Chattanooga in Chattanooga.
Joyce was born Aug. 26, 1932, in Bradley County, Tenn., a daughter of the late James A. and Ruth Pauline Stonecipher Maples. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Howard W. Phillips and brothers, Isaac Maples, Frank Maples, Jim Maples, Wilce Maples, Glenn Maples and Eugene Maples; sisters, Pauline Scarbrough, Gueilda Reagan and Mary E. Maples.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, J. Mechelle and Jerry L. Thomas of Chatsworth; sons, William A. Phillips and Stephen Phillips, both of East Ridge, Tenn.; grandchildren, Joshua Thomas of Chatsworth, Zachery and Jodi Thomas of Jasper, Michael and Karina Phillips of Jacksonville, N.C., Daphanie Phillips of Chatsworth; great-grandchildren, Jordan Phillips, Christopher Phillips, Benjamyn Phillips, Levi Thomas and Leyland Phillips; brothers and sister-in-law, George and Shirley Maples and Tommy Maples; sister, Carol Brown all of Cleveland, Tenn.; several nieces and nephews.
Services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Joyce Norma Phillips will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Ponders Melrose Chapel with the Rev. Roy Waters officiating.
She will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband at Plowman Cemetery in Apison, Tenn. Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at Ponders Melrose Chapel after 10 a.m. Saturday until the service hour.
