Dorothy Ann Townsend Parson

Mrs. Dorothy Ann Townsend Parson passed away at her residence on Thursday, Sept. 26, 2013, surrounded by her family.

She was the daughter of the late Della and Richard Ginn Townsend.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Winston Parson; son, Terry Parson; beloved sister and best friend, Margaret Blackwell; and eight brothers.

Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Sandy and Robert Freeman of Hixson, Tenn., Leta and Albert Newman of Rocky Face, and Debbie and Alan Robbins of Chatsworth; brother and sister-in-law, Gene and Paulette Townsend of Dalton; sister and brother-in-law, Cheryl and Wallace Maddron of Dalton; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Gwennell and John Palmer, Helen Miller, Evelyn and Jimmy Parson, Kenneth and Vernice Parson, Martha and Boyd Bramlett, Linda and Larry McBrayer, Billy and Mary Jo Parson, George Blackwell and Virginia Townsend; grandchildren, Robert and Courtney Freeman, Jay Freeman, Jason and Tonya Barton, Jennifer and Brandon Banks, Adam and Chandra Robbins, Zach and Rebecca Robbins; great-grandchildren, Mirra and Bryce Freeman, Kara and Kamryn Freeman, Julia, Brynn and Sawyer Banks, Jakob and Marlee Robbins; special nieces and nephews, Johnny and Sherry Ray, Billy and Donna Ray, Colleen and Vic Ray, and other nieces and nephews; special caregivers, Doris Brown, Peggy Chastain, Louise Childers, Claudette Stephens, the staff of Amedysis Home Health and Hospice and special thanks to Kevin Jones of Carlton’s Pharmacy.

Services are today at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Shawn Chapman Funeral Home with the Rev. James Brownlee officiating. Interment will be in Murray Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from noon to 2 p.m.

The family asks that donations be made to the Murray County Developmental Center, 735 W. Chestnut St., Chatsworth, GA 30705.
