Willard Cooper was a lifelong committed Christian member of First Baptist Church of Cohutta. He served his Lord and his church in any way he was called upon. He was loved by his church and community. He was a combat veteran of World War II, serving with distinction throughout France and Germany.
At age 94, Willard L. Cooper of Cohutta went to be with the Lord on Friday, Dec. 13, 2013. He was surrounded by his family who loved him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Dorothy Cooper, and son, Raymond Cooper.
He is survived by daughters, Kathie Cooper Whitmire (Van) of Apison, Tenn., and Patricia Cooper Little (Mike) of Cohutta; two sons, Kenneth Cooper (Retha) and Grady Cooper (Jan), all of Ringgold; six grandchildren, Lacey Schofield, Wendy Woody, Jennifer Reese, Lindsey Watkins, April Hudson, Robin Croninger; 12 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Catherine Maddox of Dalton. He is also survived by a host of friends from Cohutta who loved him.
The funeral to honor the life of Willard Cooper will be Monday at 2 p.m. at the Pleasant Grove Chapel of Julian Peeples Funeral Home with the Rev. John Bagley and the Rev. Grady Cooper officiating.
Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 2 to 8 p.m.
