I have a very special and unique job. My name is Julie E. Dyer, program supervisor for the Dalton-Whitfield Senior Center.
I have worked for the Dalton Parks and Recreation Department since 1981 and have been with the senior center since 1992. I continue to be as amazed today as I was in 1981 at the strong presence of community volunteer spirit.
“Tis the season” here at the Dalton-Whitfield Senior Center with such great support, sponsorship and community participation throughout the years.
So at this time I would like to express our gratitude to all the individuals, agencies and businesses who have brought joy, smiles, comfort and laughter to all who have passed through our doors.
We have had a successful and very enjoyable program this month of December called “The Dalton-Whitfield Senior Center presents: ‘The Twelve Days of Christmas!’”
I wish to thank the following individuals and groups for their participation: The Senior Singers, Tut McFarland (Mrs. Claus), the Varnell Voices, the band The Classics, the senior center’s Happy Tappers and Trailblazers line dance groups, Santa Claus, the Grove Level Pioneer Singers, the Rome Area Flute Ensemble (with Lisa Elders of Dalton), the Westside Rockin’ Rockets, ventriloquist and magician Michael Westmoreland, Larry Flanagan and the Men’s Ensemble, the Mar-Sel tap dancers, the Dalton Dulcimers, the Sounds of Joy Choir and the Carpet Capital Cloggers.
A final note of gratitude to all the staff there at The Daily Citizen newspaper that works tirelessly on behalf of organizations such as the senior center bringing our community that much closer together.
