John Erwin Morgan Sr., 85, of Jackson, passed away Thursday, May 23, 2013, at Spalding Regional Medical Center.
He was born on Oct. 8, 1927, in Dalton, to the late Earl Morgan and the late Lucy Smith Morgan.
He was a veteran of Korea and Vietnam conflicts, serving in the U.S. Army for more than 20 years.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Marlene Clark Morgan, and 2 brothers, Harold and Ray Morgan.
John is survived by his daughters, Gail Morgan of Jackson, Gloria Morgan of Douglasville; sons, John E. Morgan Jr. and Dennis Morgan, both of Jackson; one grandson; brother and sister-in-law, Paul and Martha Morgan of Tennessee; several neices and nephews.
Services for John Morgan Sr. are today at 11 a.m. at Sherrell Memorial Chapel with Mr. Rudy Mangham officiating.
Interment will be at Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family received friends at the funeral home Friday evening.
