Lee Roy ‘Bud’ Roberts

— Mr. Lee Roy “Bud” Roberts, 85, of Dalton departed this life Sunday, May 25, 2014, at his home surrounded by his family.

He was preceded in death by his father Guy Roberts; his mother, Nellie “Gammy” Roberts; his brother Jack Roberts; his sister, Peggy Roberts; and his brothers-in-law J.D. Nicholson and Clarence Bowman.

Bud proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a local businessman and operated Dalton Dodge, Pick and Pay Carpet, Credence Carpet and Roberts Carpets. He and his wife were members of Dalton First United Methodist Church for 60 years. He was a loving family man. Bud enjoyed golf, cooking and gardening. He also like to watch the Georgia Bulldogs, Atlanta Braves and the Atlanta Falcons. He was known for his special “fruit cake” that he would prepare and deliver at Christmas each year.

Bud is survived by his wife of 61 years, Johnne Roberts of the residence; his daughter, Pam Holcomb of Dalton; his son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Liz Roberts of Rocky Face; his sisters, Juanita Nicholson and Charlotte Bowman; his brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Cheryl Roberts of Dalton; his grandchildren, Dale McClain of Dalton, Alyson Holcomb of Suwanee, Andrew Pelfrey of Atlanta, Rebecca (Justin) Hurst of Dalton; his great-grandchildren, Ayden Mills and Kyran Hurst; several nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday from the Dalton First United Methodist Church with  Dr. Robin Lindsey officiating.

Burial will be in Whitfield Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends at Love funeral Home Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 519 E. 4th St., Chattanooga, TN 37403 or to the Dalton First United Methodist Church, 500 N. Thornton Ave., Dalton, GA 30720.
