Albert David Ellison

Albert David Ellison, 52, of 940 Ware St. Apt. 34, Blackshear, passed away early Sunday morning, June 8, 2014, at his residence with his dedicated parents and siblings at his bedside.

He was born May 27, 1962, in Dalton to Albert Ellison Sr. and Christine Lane. He graduated from Blackshear High School in 1980. As a teenager, he joined Zion Baptist Church where he served in the choir for some time. After high school, he enlisted in the United States Army and served from 1980-1988. While serving his country, he received the Army Service Ribbon, the Good Conduct Medal, the Marksman’s Badge with an M-16 Rifle Bar, and the Sharpshooter’s Badge with Hand Grenade Bar.

He also enjoyed cooking.

He was the grandson of the late John and Annie Mitchell, and Ben and Lena Cameron. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Steven Keith Lane.

Those left to cherish his memories are his wife, Earlene Ellison, and his devoted parents, Deacon Walter and Christine Lane and Albert David Ellison Sr. of Dalton. His life legacy will continue with his children, David Charles Ellison (Germany) and Jessica Ellison; his very supportive siblings, Mark (Tracy) Lane of Houston, Texas, Daphne (Vincent) Elliott, Tiffany Baker and Arnita Ellison of Atlanta; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and sorrowing friends.

Visitation will take place today from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home at 505 Ware St. in Blackshear.

The family is also receiving visitors at the home of his parents, Christine and Walter Lane, at 518 Orange St. in Blackshear.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. from the Zion Missionary Baptist Church on Lee Street in Blackshear.

The Rev. Jimmie L. Green will bring words of comfort.

Interment will follow in the Blackshear Cemetery on Bazemore Drive in Blackshear.

The cortege will assemble at the residence of his parents at 518 Orange St. on Saturday at 1:30 p.m.

Rainge Memorial Chapel Funeral Home Inc., of Blackshear is in charge of arrangements.
