Billy Joe Baldridge, 84, of Dalton, died Sunday, April 21, 2013, at his residence with his family at his side.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Allie and Ruby Cline Baldridge; sister, Judy McCamy; and two sons-in-law, Teddy Holmes and Mike Holcomb.
Mr. Baldridge was born in White. He resided in the Deep Springs community for most of his life. His life’s work was in the lumber business. He and his three brothers owned Baldridge Brothers Lumber Company in Beaverdale and Baldridge Lumber and Building Supply in Dalton.
He was a member of Little Prospect Baptist Church. He loved the Lord, his family and his church family.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Marge Smith Baldridge; five sons and spouses, Jerry and Betty, Kenneth and Velinda, David and Lisa, Gary and Tracy, and Michael; three daughters and spouses, Tracy and Greg West, Sharon and Brent Walraven, and Diane Holcomb; three brothers and spouses, Dick and Joyce, Donald and Brenda, and Roger and Sheila; three sisters and spouses, Johnnie and Troy Bell, Peggy and Lee Thompson, and Louise Baldridge; 19 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and seven stepgrandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
The funeral service to honor the life of Mr. Baldridge will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Little Prospect Baptist Church with the Rev. Johnny Payne and the Rev. Gene James officiating.
Burial will be in Good Hope Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the Pleasant Grove Chapel of Julian Peeples Funeral Home today from 5 to 9 p.m.
