Mr. James David “Porky” Thomas III, 67, of 3401 Discovery Lane, Dalton, passed away on Thursday morning, April 24, 2014, at his residence.
Mr. Thomas was born in Floyd County on July 2, 1946, son of the late James David Thomas Jr. and the late Edna Louise Moore Wilson.
He was a member of Cave Spring Church of God. Prior to his retirement he had been a wrapper for Pet Bakery for 31 years and later was associated with Mohawk Industries for more than 12 years.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by the mother of his children, Bonnie Faye Sutton, and by two granddaughters, Brandy Thomas and Lydia Craig.
Survivors include his wife, the former Barbara Ann Langley to whom he was married on Oct. 16, 2005; a daughter, Sharon Sentell and her husband, the Rev. Alan Sentell, Trion; a son, Anthony Thomas, Dalton; a stepdaughter, Bonnie Carpenter and her husband Nathan, Dalton; a stepson, Thomas Craig and his wife Tanasa, Dalton; a sister, Wanda Kines and her husband, the Rev. Wayne Kines, Cedartown; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a special great-grandson, Cristian Marales; several nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 2 p.m. on Sunday in the chapel at Henderson and Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, with the Rev. Alan Sentell and Mr. David Wilson officiating.
Interment will be in Rome Memorial Park with the Rev. Robert Sutton conducting the graveside rites
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at Henderson and Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, Rome. At other hours they may be contacted at their respective residences.
