Gertrude “Maw Maw” Whaley

Gertrude “Maw Maw” Whaley, 89 of Dalton, went to be with the Lord Monday, Jan. 27, 2014 at Quinton Memorial Health Care Center in Dalton.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 42 years, Rufus “Boots” Whaley; son, Michael Whaley; son-in-law, Ralph Quinn.

She was a member of Antioch Baptist Church where she was a Sunday school teacher for 60 years and was a custodian at the church for 20 years.

She is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Donna and Ronald Cantrell and Angela Whaley and fiance Ronald Bonds, all of Dalton; sister, Hula Henton of Dalton; four grandchildren, Christy, Mylainia, Selena and Scott; 12 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; niece and nephews also survive.

The funeral service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Whaley will be held Friday, Jan. 31, 2014 at 4 p.m. at Antioch Baptist Church with Rev. Donald Cantrell, speaker Lisa Landrum and speaker Joe Fincher officiating. Burial will be in Whitfield Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends at the Pleasant Grove Chapel of Julian Peeples Funeral Home Thursday from 5 to 9 p.m. The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of Quinton Memorial Health Care for their kindness and care for Mrs. Whaley.
