Frances Thomas Hardeman

Mrs. Frances Thomas Hardeman, 89, of Allen Street in Summerville, passed away Sunday, June 15, 2014, in a Rome health care facility.

A lifetime resident of Chattooga County, she was born on Feb. 2, 1925, a daughter of the late John Newton and Julia Elizabeth Johnson Thomas. Mrs. Hardeman was a member of Summerville First Baptist Church since she was 9 and was retired accounts payable clerk for the former Georgia Rug Mill.

She was preceded in death by her husband, R.C. (Rod) Hardeman Sr., and a son, Rodney C. Hardeman Jr.

Surviving are son and daughters-in-law, Gary R. and Arlene Hardeman, and Jan Hardeman, all of Summerville; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 1:30 p.m. from the J.D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Dr. Paul Mason, the Rev. Doyle Waters and Dr. David Hunter officiating.

Interment will be in the family plot at Summerville Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Jim Day, Adam Hankins, Chris Jarrett, Charlie Jarrett, Bill Kinsey, Noah Hankins and Bailey Hankins. Honorary pallbearers will be the Dorcas Sunday school class of Summerville First Baptist Church and the caregivers at The Harbor at Renaissance Marquis.

The family will receive friends Saturday from noon to 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
