Walter Frady

Walter Frady, 82, of Dalton, passed away Saturday, July 12, 2014, at Hamilton Medical Center.

He was born on May 24, 1932, in Bledsoe County, Tenn.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Roxie Frady, in 2006.  When she passed away, the Rev. Darey Kittle was asked by the funeral home staff to officiate the service since Mr. Frady did not have a pastor. It was a time that changed the life of Mr. Frady and many who met him. He and the Rev. Kittle began a long and lasting friendship.  He soon began visiting Salem Baptist Church “every time the doors were open” and was immediately embraced with love by the entire church family.  Many people in the church found joy in taking Mr. Frady out to eat, to doctors’ appointments and church functions. Mr. Frady told many people that Salem was his “true family” after his wife died and that “he did not know what his life would be like without his Salem family.”

Mr. Frady is survived by his loving church family at Salem Baptist Church.  His presence and smile will be missed by all.

A funeral to celebrate Mr. Frady’s life is today at Salem Baptist Church at the 8, 9:15 and 10:30 a.m. worship services with the Rev. Darey Kittle officiating.

He will be buried next to his wife in United Memorial Gardens. Deacons of Salem Baptist Church will serve as pallbearers.
