Melvin S. Pierce, 94, of Rockmart in Paulding County, passed away Monday, Jan. 6, 2014.
He was born in Cleveland, Tenn., on Dec. 7, 1919, and was preceded in death by his parents, Waco and Febie Pierce; wife, Helen Stoner Pierce; and stepson, Michael Stoner.
Mr. Pierce had worked for many years as a carpenter.
Survivors include his sons, Eddie Pierce, Mackie Pierce and Rickey Pierce, all of Ellijay; stepdaughters, Judy Harper of Dalton, and Diane Stoner Locklear and husband, Larry of Rockmart; sister, Ruby Collins of Cohutta; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. from Clark Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jimmy Tibbitts officiating.
Interment will follow at 2 p.m. at Whitfield Memorial Gardens in Dalton.
The family will receive friends at Clark Funeral Home today from 5 to 8 p.m.
