Mrs. Opal Mae Holcomb, 84, of Resaca, departed this life Friday, April 13, 2013, at her residence surrounded by her loving family.
Opal was born March 21, 1929, in Walker County, a daughter of the late William and Tinnie Bishop Hitt.
Opal was preceded in death by her husband, Millard (JB) Holcomb; a son, Jerry Holcomb and a brother, Junior Hitt.
Opal is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Teresa Holcomb of Resaca, Rocky and Sue Holcomb of Sand Mountain; brothers, Jack Hitt of Colorado, Buddy Hitt of Dalton; sisters, Judy Hitt of California, Evelyn Hitt of Dalton; grandchildren, Bruce Holcomb, Ronnie Holcomb, Scott Holcomb, Stormy Holcomb, Junior Adkins, Jennie Adkins, Tonya Adkins, Rachel Greeson, Jeffery Greeson; great-grandchildren, Anthony Greeson and Harley Sandman; special friends, JoAnne Stiles, Danny and Wilma Cudd, Chris Childers.
Services to celebrate the life of Opal Mae Holcomb are today at 2 p.m. at the Melrose Chapel of Ponders Funeral Home with Pastor Harold Blackstock officiating.
She will be laid to rest at West Hill Cemetery Monday. There will be no visitation.
