Stevan ‘Steve’ Cofield

Mr. Stevan “Steve” Cofield, 49, of Resaca, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2014.

Mr. Cofield proudly served in the 82nd Airborne, earning accolades such as the Army Achievement Medal. He was a network administrator for the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce and a member of the Pyrotechnics Guild International, Camp Shooters Club and National Rifle Association. He attended Southeast Whitfield High School and Kennesaw State University. He enjoyed military history, marksmanship, pyrotechnics, sky diving and drag racing.

Mr. Cofield was preceded in death by his mother, Barbara Stewart Buckler; paternal grandmother, Effie Thompson Cofield; paternal grandfather, Durward Cofield; maternal grandmother, Patricia Lattie Stewart; maternal grandfather, Raymond Stewart; and aunt, Florence Cofield Moat.

Survivors include his loving girlfriend, Lisa Johnson Perry; parents, Charles and Bernita Cofield of Chatsworth; brothers and sisters-in-law, Stewart and Carol Cofield of Chatsworth, and Chris and Amy Norwood of Dalton; sister and brother-in-law, Sherri Cofield Kroll and Ralph Kroll of Brunswick; loyal companions, Chimmie, Bobo and Snoop; and aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Services to celebrate the life of Mr. Cofield are today at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Peeples Funeral Home with the Rev. Marty Green and the Rev. Matt Evans officiating.

Interment with military rites will be in Serenity Hills Memorial Park.

The family received friends Thursday at the funeral home.

Peeples Funeral Home and Crematory of Chatsworth is in charge of the arrangements.
