Phillip T. Russell, 65, of Chatsworth, passed away Tuesday, July 9, 2013, at Hamilton Medical Center in Dalton.
He was born Jan. 2, 1948, in Harriman, Tenn. Phillip was a very proud father, loving grandfather and a great friend to many. He was a U.S. Navy veteran who served his country proudly for eight years as an electrical engineer and on the underwater demolition team during the Vietnam era.
He was preceded in death by his father, Morrison Kenneth Russell, and brother, Bradley Russell.
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Lawrence and Tammy Russell of Kingston, Tenn.; daughters and sons-in-law, Melissa and Steven Nichols of Chatsworth, Linda and Jared Webb of Rocky Face, and Stacey and Ben Wilson of Kingston, Tenn.; mother, Lois Evelyn Collins Russell of Rockwood, Tenn.; brothers, Brian Russell of LaFayette and Mitch Russell of Tulsa, Okla.; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, extended family and a host of friends.
The family will receive friends Saturday from noon to 2 p.m. at Fraker Funeral Home in Kingston with a memorial service following at 2 p.m. in the chapel with the Rev. Joe Nelms officiating.
Full military honors will be conducted by the U.S. Navy at a later date with burial at sea.
