Ms. Eula Louise Smith Hopkins, “Granny,” 93, of Dalton, passed away on Tuesday afternoon, April 23, 2013, at Quinton Memorial Health Care in Dalton.
Eula was born on Jan. 22, 1920, in Dalton. She was a member at Midway Baptist Church for 25 years. Eula was preceded in death by her husband, Albert W. Hopkins; her parents, Henry and Laura Smith; sisters, Ollie Neal, Thelma Ruth Coe and Ruby Pinto; and brothers, Howard William Smith, Russell Smith, Glenn Smith and Robert Smith.
Ms. Hopkins is survived by her daughters, Brenda Smith and Patricia (Pat) White, both of Dalton; a sister, Onie Pool of Redwood City, Calif.; sister-in-law, Mary Ginther of Oklahoma; grandchildren, Michael and Andi White of Dalton, and Norma White of Dalton; great-grandchildren, Jeremy White, Kimi White, Mikayla White and Jonah White; and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the hospice nurses and the staff of Quinton Memorial for the special care given to Eula.
A funeral service to celebrate the life of Ms. Eula Smith Hopkins will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at the chapel of Dalton Funeral Home with Tim Cheathem, Jimmy Patterson and Michael White officiating.
Interment will follow the funeral service at West Hill Cemetery in Dalton. Aquilla Coe, John Smith, David Gibson, Mike Gibson, Jonah White and Jeremy White will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Chris Smith and William Sneed.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 5 to 9 p.m.
