Travis Wayne McBrayer

Mr. Travis Wayne McBrayer, 57, of Calhoun, departed this life Tuesday, April 15, 2014, at his residence surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on July 28, 1956, in Calhoun, a son to the late Robert “R.D.” and Lois Millsap McBrayer.

Previously Travis proudly served in the United States Air Force and was employed as an electrician at Shaw Industries. He was a member of Newtown Baptist Church.

Travis is survived by his fiancée and best friend Vanessa Evans of the residence; son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Ashley McBrayer of Ooltewah, Tenn.; daughters and sons-in-law, Kristy and Richard Beasley of Calhoun, Dana and Josh Hall of Calhoun, Erica and Brandon Kempson of Rome, and Nichole and Tim Davis of Chatsworth; brothers and sisters-in-law, Carlton and Trisha McBrayer of Advance, N.C., John and Ruth McBrayer of Calhoun; sisters and brothers-in-law, Laverne Wells of Calhoun, Barbara and Lee Rushing of Calhoun; 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild; a host of nieces and nephews.

Services to celebrate the life of Travis McBrayer are today at 11 a.m. at the Calhoun Chapel of Ponders Funeral Home with the Revs. Pratt Hughes and Rusty Haradon officiating.

He will be laid to rest at Fain Cemetery with Jason Wells, Brandon Kempson, Brandon Rushing, Lee Rushing, Micah Bowen and Curtis Wilson serving as pallbearers.

The family received friends Thursday at the funeral home.
