Ms. Ester Kate Maynard, of Dalton, passed away on Thursday, May 1, 2014, at Hamilton Medical Center.
She was a member of Liberty Baptist Church and retired from Shaw Industries.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Brenda Stokes; parents, Jim and Essie Mae Branham Maynard; sister, Nina Jo Richardson; and four brothers, Levi, James, Houston and Charles Nelson Maynard.
Survivors are her loving family, two daughters, Carol A. Cannon (Walt Weaver) and Judy Alford of Dalton; four grandchildren, Rhonda S. Vassar of Mableton, Charles Che Powers of Augusta, Marvin Maynard Stokes of Atlanta and Essie “Nikki” Smith of Dalton; three great-grandchildren, Kendal Vassar, Sloane Vassar of Mableton and Brittany Wynn of Rome; special niece, Barbara (Kenneth) Willis; one goddaughter, Lerniece (Tracey) Dillard; two dear friends, Catherine Blackwell and Minnie Rhodes; and nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Homegoing services for Ms. Ester Kate Maynard will be Saturday at noon in the chapel of Willis Funeral Home with the Rev. Jerry L. Burse and other ministers officiating.
Her remains will lie at the funeral home on Friday after 11 a.m. and the family will receive friends Friday from 6 to 8 p.m.
Interment will be in West Hill Cemetery.
