Bertha Mae Atkins Stone Duke

Mrs. Bertha Mae Atkins Stone Duke, 80, passed away at the home of her daughter in Calhoun after several months of declining health.

Bertha Mae became disabled several years ago and spent her later years trying to help out other people. She was a retired seamstress who loved to sew, read and play bingo. She dearly loved her family and enjoyed her visits with each of them. She will be missed by many, but she is at home with Jesus and is at peace.

West, Kimberly A. West and Jeffrey A. Pressel; five great-grandchildren, Hailey C. Lynn, Hunter C. Lynn, Kayla M. Lynn, Audrey A. Eaton and Russell D. Campbell; one brother and his wife, Darrell and Katherine Atkins of Chatsworth; and several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by close friends and adopted family, Sam and Betty Shipman of Newnan, and Gene Calloway, Linda Hayes and Marion Duckett, all of Dalton.

The family would like to say a special thanks to Amedysis Hospice of Dalton and Cartersville: You truly made these last years better than you will ever know. Your love and kindness will not be forgotten: Roxanne, Jennie, Candace, Jennifer, Davena, Terri, Angie, Patti, Michelle, Julia, Keith and Diana. Also special thanks to those who helped with her care, Kimberly West and Mary Brownlow.

Services will be Thursday at 4 p.m. in the chapel of Love Funeral Home with the Rev. Calvin Anderson officiating.

The family will receive friends at Love Funeral Home Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to the American Diabetes Association, 225 Peachtree St., NE, Suite 550, Atlanta, GA 30303.
