Elvin Cantrell, 88, of Dalton, passed away Saturday, April 26, 2014, at Floyd Medical Center.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Ellavee Birtie Cantrell; parents, Steve and Lemma Cantrell; three brothers, Dorsey, Autry and Lloyd Cantrell; sister, Oval Ketchum; granddaughter, Christy Green; special cousin, Estes Cantrell.
Mr. Cantrell was a member of Grace Baptist Church.
He proundly served his country as a World War II veteran in the United States Army.
He is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and Kenneth Higgins of Cleveland, Tenn., Judy and Leroy Bishop, Edna and Roy Blackwell, Linda and William Green, all of Dalton, Angela and David Richardson of Chatsworth; sisters, Bessie Selvidge, Faye Wilkins and Lucille Ogle, all of Dalton; grandchildren, Keith Higgins, Jennifer Sutton, Kerry Chastain, Dewayne, Dwight and Daniel Blackwell, Billie Jo Wells, Craig Green, Brittany Parker and Jordan Richardson; 13 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
The funeral to honor the life of Mr. Cantrell will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Pleasant Grove Chapel of Julian Peeples Funeral Home with Chris Corbin, Allan Ledford, Arthur Corbin and Steve Corbin officiating.
Burial will be in United Memorial Gardens. Military honors will be rendered by American Legion Post 112.
