Mr. Fred Roy Davis, 74, of Dalton, departed this life Saturday morning, Dec. 22, 2012, at the home of his daughter in Rome.
Fred was born June 30, 1938, in Dalton, a son of the late Roy Sydney and Cora Ledford Davis. He was also preceded in death by a son, Fred Alan Davis and a sister, Hazel Eaker.
He worked many years at Solomon White and at Lock’s Dozing. Fred was an avid outdoorsman. He loved NASCAR and fishing.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Vicki and Bill Schroeder of Rome; son, Brian Davis of Rock Spring; grandchildren, Amanda McKinley of Fayetteville, N.C., Cantrell Schroeder and Barrett Schroeder, both of Rome; great-grandchildren, Kaiden and Joshua Blackiston of Fayetteville, N.C.; sisters and brothers-in-law, Pauline Phillips, Beulah Brindle all of Chatsworth, Beatrice and Donald Blevins, Juanita Baldridge, all of Dalton, Grace and Andrew Harris of Eton; honorary family member, Chad McGatha of Chatsworth; several nieces and nephews.
Services to celebrate the life of Mr. Fred Roy Davis will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Ponders Melrose Chapel with Jerry Eaker officiating. He will be laid to rest at the New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery in Tunnel Hill with Steve Eaker, Scott Phillips, Rodney Huggins, Ray Blevins, Allan Blevins and Dan Eaker servings as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Seth Jackson and Lamar Baldridge.
The family will receive friends at Ponders Melrose Chapel from 3 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and after 11 a.m. Thursday until the service hour.
