Mrs. Olia Ruth Shoemaker, 62, of Cohutta, departed this life Wednesday morning, Feb. 6, 2013, surrounded by her loving family.
Ruth was born June 15, 1950, in Resaca, a daughter of the late Colquitt James and L.D. Muse Hester. Ruth was a long-haul truck driver.
She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Darrell L. Shoemaker of the residence; son, Darrell Anthony Shoemaker; daughters, Dana Shoemaker and Michelle Hester; grandchildren, Jennifer Shoemaker, Anjel Shoemaker, Weston Taylor, Colton Crider, Daniel Hester and Christopher Hester; great-grandchild, Madison Shoemaker; sisters, Cullie Owenby and Shirley Hester Arrambide; brothers, Eddie Hester, Charles Rogers and Roy Hester; several nieces and nephews.
Services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Olia Ruth Shoemaker will be Friday at noon at Ponders Melrose Chapel.
She will be laid to rest at the Chattanooga National Cemetery in Chattanooga with Terry Rich, Jeff Stacy, Mitchell Stacy, Jake Stacy, Tony House, Jose Azua Jr. and Roger Gentry serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at Ponders Melrose Chapel from 5 to 9 p.m. today and after 10 a.m. Friday until the service hour.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to help with final expences.
