George Washington Albertson Jr., 84, of Dalton, passed away Saturday, July 13, 2013, at his residence surrounded by his loving family at his side.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George W. Sr. and Cora Albertson; sister, Mary Nell Hawkins; infant siblings, Katherine Lucille and Hubert Albertson; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Cleve and Vivian Rowland.
Mr. Albertson was a founding member of Church on the Hill, formerly Evangelical Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Vivian Jeane Albertson of the residence; daughters, Suzanne Baggett of Dalton and Jerilou Albertson and Rusty Mangum of Dalton; sons and daughters-in-law, Rowland and Karen Albertson of Dalton, Marc and Darlene Albertson of Macon and George W. Albertson III of Dalton; brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Becky Albertson of Dalton; grandchildren, Mandi Hill, Whitney and Hunter Smith, Lauren and Jarred Owens, Andrew and Dana Albertson, Emily and Curtis Register, Hunter Albertson, John Baggett, Corbin and Kellie Albertson, Angie Moreland; great-grandchildren, Avery Hill, Presley Hill, John Marc Albertson, Peyton Albertson, Nate Smith, Nash Smith, Logan Register, Bailey Register, Drew Moreland, Alex Moore, McKenzie Moore; special caregivers, Penny, Freida, Virginia and Amedisys Home Health; nieces and nephews.
The funeral to honor the life of Mr. Albertson will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Church on the Hill, 1035 Abutment Road, Dalton, with sons, Rowland Albertson, Marc Albertson and grandson, Corbin Albertson officiating.
The body will be at the church from noon until the service time at 2 p.m.
Burial will be in Whitfield Memorial Gardens. Serving as pallbearers will be Hunter Albertson, Andrew Albertson, John Baggett, Jarred Owens, Hunter Smith and Dave Greene; honorary pallbearers will be Bill Callahan, Gene Collins, Randy Beckler, Roger DeVaughn, Jack Rowland, Albert Newman, H. R. Poe and Bill Bowen III.
