Ms. Macie Pelfrey Harwood, 95, of Dalton, departed this life Tuesday morning, July 30, 2013, at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Macie was born May 28, 1918, in Rockwood, Tenn., a daughter of the late Robert Garrett and Lizzie Ann Rogers Pelfrey. She was also preceded in death by her son-in-law, Joe Long; brothers, Carl Pelfrey, Creed Pelfrey, Foster Pelfrey, George Pelfrey and Ernest Pelfrey; and sisters, Ruth Riddle, Grace Welch, Kate Fritts, Lona Ralston, Hazel Pelfrey, Mildred Barker and Mary Pelfrey.
She is survived by her precious daughter, Agnes Long of Dalton; loving sons and daughters-in-law, John and Linda Sue Harwood of Euharlee, Thomas and Nancy Harwood of Rockwood, Tenn., and Larry and Cathy Harwood of Dalton; special nephew and his wife, Billy and Faye Clifton of Kingston, Tenn.; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 21 great-great-grandchildren; and several other nieces and nephews.
Services to celebrate the life of Ms. Macie Pelfrey Harwood will be Friday at 3 p.m. at Ponders Melrose Chapel with the Rev. Billy Willis and the Rev. Tim Swinney officiating.
She will be laid to rest at Colonial Hills Memorial Park Cemetery with David Oxford, Jeremy Oxford, Scotty Brown, Eric Harwood, Craig Harwood and Tim Harwood serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends on Friday from 1 to 3 p.m. at Ponders Melrose Chapel.
