Brenda Sue Holcomb, 58, of Spring Place, passed away on Monday, March 25, 2013, at Parkridge Medical Center in Chattanooga.
An active member of Spring Place Baptist Church and a teacher at Spring Place Elementary School for 30 years, Brenda had a passion for uplifting and educating those in her community. At home, she enjoyed reading and cooking for her family.
Brenda was preceded in death by her parents, Kerner and Loray Powell; brothers, Joey and David Powell; brother-in-law, Clarence Worrell; and stepson, Lee Holcomb.
Survivors include her husband, Freddy Holcomb of Spring Place; son, Adam Holcomb of San Francisco, Calif.; daughter and son-in-law, Megan and Bradley Orr of Cumming; stepson and daughter-in-law, Matthew and Christy Holcomb of Chatsworth; brothers and sister-in-law, Richard and Janie Powell, and Danny Powell, all of Princeton, W.V.; sister, Kathy Worrell of Princeton, W.V.; grandson, Colton Orr; stepgrandchildren, Kyler and Haley Holcomb; and aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services for Brenda will be today at 2 p.m. at Spring Place Baptist Church with the Rev. Tim Batchelor and the Rev. Paul Whitton officiating.
Interment will follow at Murray Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society or Spring Place Baptist Church.
The family received friends at the funeral home on Tuesday.
