Bob R. Creswell Jr.

— Bob R. Creswell Sr. was born on April 17, 1938, and went to heaven Friday, Oct. 4, 2013.

Bob loved one woman with all of his soul, mind, heart and strength for more than 52 years and he modeled Christ’s love to his family, friends and everyone he encountered.

He believed in hard work, honesty, integrity, doing your best at all times, rewarding talent, nurturing promise, giving second chances and helping those who could not help themselves regardless of whether they deserved it. He delighted in little children — their laughter, joy and spunk — and in seeing young people, especially his grandchildren, learn, grow, mature and succeed.

Bob was a brilliant engineer and he spent his life building the best finishing equipment in all the world and teaching his sons to do the same. He believed women should be treated with great respect and protected, but he also expected and allowed the women in his life to be as capable and talented as the men. He loved all of God’s creatures and believed we have a duty to protect them and all of the natural beauty we enjoy. He was slow to anger, generous with laughter and love, and devoted beyond measure to his family.

Bob was a member of Grove Level Baptist Church, CEO of Tuftco Finishing Systems, Southern Tech graduate; husband to Jaye Anne Keith Creswell; father to Bobby Jr. (Sally), Will (Cheryl) and Celeste Creswell; and grandfather to Courtney, Colter, Walker, Mackenzie and Sophie Creswell.

He is survived by his wife, children, daughters-in-law, grandchildren, brother Jack (Sandra) Creswell; sister Sara (Jeff) Davis; nephews, John (Rebecca) and Jack (Lisa) Creswell; nieces Cindy (Kevin) Ragsdale, Tara (Greg) Holland and Kim Hefner.

He was preceded in death by his father, H.C. “Check” Creswell; his mother, Marguerite Keown Creswell and his sister Elizabeth (Leonard) Hefner.

The funeral to honor the life of Bob Creswell Sr. will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Grove Level Baptist Church, 2802 Cleveland Highway, Dalton, with Dr. Charlie Bridges officiating.
