Mrs. Elsie Jean Swim Parker, 66, of Dalton, departed this life Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2012, at the local hospital.
Elsie was born Jan. 12, 1946, in LaGrange, a daughter of the late Lewis L. Johnson Sr. and Elsie Lee Bryant Johnson. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Thomas Johnson, Lewis Johnson Jr., Melvin Johnson, Samuel Johnson and Gregory Johnson.
She is survived by her husband, Arthur Joe Parker of the residence; son, Samuel Edward Swim Jr.; daughters, Rena Hall, Carolyn Spears, Sherry Swim and Debbie Swim, all of Dalton, and Paula Jones of Tunnel Hill; brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Rebecca Johnson of Dalton; sisters and brother-in-law, Carolyn and Ken Harris, and Donna Wood of Calhoun; grandchildren, Jennie, Laura, Misty Starr, Steven, Terry, Gregory, Austin, Ginger, Stella Jean, Keisha Dawn, Phillip Jr., Shonna, Melanie and Nikki; 16 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and brothers-in-law, Donald Leatherwood and Rodney Hollier.
Services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Elsie Jean Swim Parker will be Monday at 11 a.m. from the Ponders Melrose Chapel.
She will be laid to rest at the Colonial Hills Memorial Park Cemetery with Samuel Swim Jr., Terry Swim, Gregory Crider, Austin Cordell, Johnny Hollier, Donald Leatherwood and Bill Hall serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 4 to 9 p.m.
