Mr. Bobby Joe Hightower, 75, of Chatsworth, departed this life Monday evening, Nov. 26, 2012, at the Hamilton Medical Center in Dalton.
Bobby was born March 12, 1937, in Pickens County, a son of the late Henry D. and Nola Ralston Hightower. He was also preceded in death by all of his brothers and sisters, Hugh Don, Marvin, Grady, Mayford, Earnest, Ed, Homer, the Rev. Thurman Hightower, Bonnie Mae Pack and Mattie Jo Hill; a son, George Lamar Jones; and daughter, Debbie Hughey.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Jewell James Hightower of the residence; sons and daughters-in-law, Randy and Glenda Hightower, Bobby Lloyd and Tina Hightower, Michael D. Hightower, Gary and Crystal Hightower, Don A. Hightower, Lewis Jones, Earl F. Jones, James M. Jones and Lynn Brown; daughters and sons-in-law, Shelia Odom, Kathy and Ricky Davis, Cynthia and Terry Sissom; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Services to celebrate the life of Mr. Bobby Joe Hightower will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Ponders Melrose Chapel with the Rev. Reggie Temples officiating. He will be laid to rest at the Hopewell Baptist Church Cemetery in Gordon County.
The family will receive friends at Ponders Melrose Chapel today from 5 to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 9 a.m. until the service hour.
