Mary Ella Lingo

Mrs. Mary Ella Lingo, Daltondeparted this life Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2008, at the Ridgewood Health Care Center.

Mrs. Lingo was born Dec. 11, 1926, in Abbeville, S.C. She was retired from Dalton College where she worked in the book store and was a member of the Dalton First United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lovick Lingo; her father, Carroll Swetenburg, mother and stepfather, Mary (Milford) and Cantey Alexander.

She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Carol and Louis Bilowitz of La Canada, Calif., Ann and Charlie O’Mahoney of Hebron, Ky., Beth and Tracy Ward of Dalton; grandchildren, Kyle and Maria Bilowitz, Shane Bilowitz, Matthew and Sherri O’Mahoney, Michael O’Mahoney, Patrick Ward and Jeffrey Ward; great-granddaughter, Sara O’Mahoney; brother and sister-in-law, Cantey and Suzanne Alexander of Greensboro, N.C.; several nieces and nephews.

Services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Mary Ella Lingo are Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Dalton First United Methodist Church with Dr. Joe Peabody officiating. She will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband at the Whitfield Memorial Gardens with her grandsons serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends at Melrose Chapel of Ponders Funeral Home from 5 until 7 p.m. Friday.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association-Georgia Chapter, 855 Abutment Road, Dalton, GA 30720 or to the Dalton First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 627, Dalton, GA 30722.
