Letter: Republican Party ad was disgusting

— Sunday, Nov. 4, you ran a full page ad, paid for by the Republican Party. This ad is disgusting. It has two flags, one for the Republicans and one for the Democrats. We only have one flag and it’s the American flag.

The most disgusting thing is what the ad says: “For Democrats, there is no God in 2012.” This is offensive. Do you really believe that Republicans are the only ones that believe in God? If so, you need to do some checking. You might be sitting next to a good Democrat in your church.

I do not believe in some of the social issues of the Democratic Party (abortion and gay marriage), but I do believe the Democratic Party is more for the working people, the elderly and the poor. I do not believe in more wars, more tax breaks, putting more into defense for big contractors, etc.

Just because I am a Democrat, does that make me an unbeliever? I don’t think so. I believe the Democratic Party is a compassionate party since most of the social programs were given to us by the Democrats: Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid. I don’t see any Republicans refusing to take advantage of these or any many more goodies that the government offers us.

Yes, we do have to pay for them, they are not free. Let’s take some of the billions we spend on unnecessary wars and do some good in our country.

By the time this is published we will have cast our vote to either re-elect President Obama or Mitt Romney will be our new president. I just ask that we respect each other and our president. We do not have to agree on policy, but we should respect the office of the president. Let’s demand our two parties work together.

Romans 13:1-6: “Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established.”

Read all the chapter yourself.

I want President Obama to have another four years because the economy is on the rise, but if Mitt Romney becomes president I will not question his religion, his birth and ask for his grades and all the other crazy things the Republicans have asked of President Obama. He will be my president, too.
