Letter: Disappointed

— I was very disappointed to discover that both Georgia U.S. senators voted in the affirmative on the deal to raise the debt ceiling. This “deal” does nothing to address our real spending problems and does nothing to ease the burden on the American people. It doesn’t create jobs, it doesn’t pay down our debt and it doesn’t fix Obamacare, which is the real national nightmare.

All it does is increase government spending. There should have been some concessions to help the American people but because Obama and the Senate Democrats were unwilling to compromise or even negotiate, there is no relief in sight for those of us who are seeing our premiums increase, our working hours cut and our job opportunities diminish.

I wish Sens. Isakson and Chambliss had stood on conservative principles and on the side of reducing government debt and getting relief from Obamacare. This deal did not need their vote to pass yet they chose to side with progressives. I feel it was a slap in the face to the conservative Republicans and senators who stood and fought tirelessly for the good of the American people.

Many thanks to the true conservatives, such as Tom Graves, who tried so hard to reverse some of the harmful effects of Obamacare in this deal.
