Letter: Thanks for help with pancake breakfast

— On behalf of the Humane Society of Northwest Georgia, I want to thank everyone who attended our annual pancake breakfast, the employees of LongHorn Steakhouse and the many volunteers who worked so hard to make our fundraiser a success. A very special thank you goes out to Donald Jones of Modern Woodmen of America who granted us a $1,000 match.

Every day in the United States more than 70,000 puppies and kittens are born. In our community alone, between 250 and 300 dogs and cats are put to death each month. Your support of our pancake breakfast and other fundraisers helps us in our efforts to promote spay/neuter and find forever homes for some of the many unwanted, abandoned and abused animals in our community.

The Humane Society is on Cleveland Highway and has adoptions every Saturday from noon until 4 p.m. We are a strictly volunteer organization. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact our Humane Society.

Save the date for our next big event: Strut Your Mutt, Sunday, April 21, at 1:30 p.m. at Dalton Green (between Krystal and the Whitfield County Courthouse).

Again, many thanks to everyone who made the pancake breakfast a big success.
