Relay for Life starts today

The Daily Citizen

— You can enjoy the great weather with friends and family while helping out a good cause this weekend.

The American Cancer Society’s annual Relay for Life starts this evening at 6 at the North Georgia Fairgrounds and continues throughout the night and into Saturday. Opening ceremonies are at 7 tonight.

The Relay for Life is a fundraising event in which teams of participants take turns walking a track overnight in an effort to help fight cancer. There will be plenty of food and drink, as well as live entertainment and activities for children. And all the proceeds go to the American Cancer Society.

The American Cancer Society is the largest private funder of cancer research in the nation, and the organization says research it has funded has increased all phases of the battle against that disease, from prevention to detection to treatment and recovery.

It speaks well of the Greater Dalton community that there are so many people willing to put in the effort year after year to make the Relay for Life a success.

Don’t let their work go unrewarded. Support the Relay for Life this weekend. You can do some good and have some fun at the same time.
