Letter: Don’t judge by color

— The days of classifying a person by his or her skin color is and should be long gone. My son-in-law is a wonderful black man who works 40 to 60 hours a week just so my daughter can stay home with their 2-year-old son. He is a wonderful father who has faced many struggles in his life as a foster child and a young black man.

I have experienced some of the tasteless comments and actions that others have made him and my daughter endure just because of his skin color. Yes, there are people of all colors who choose to act in not so favorable ways in society, but I really don’t think it’s because of their skin color. Maybe it’s the actions of others who classify them with their treatment.

I pray every day that my grandson does not have to face the treatment some people want to put on someone just because of their skin color. God loves us all and I don’t think he will judge us on our skin color. Some people need to face that fact.
