Dalton golf director gets Hall of Fame nod

From Staff Reports

— Dalton Golf and Country Club Director of Golf Lowell Fritz has had a huge impact on local golf over a 46-year career at the club.

Over that time, more than 90 players from the area who have been under Frtiz’ guidance have gone on to collegiate careers, with more than a handful playing professionally.

Players such as Mike Clark II, Blake Adams and David Noll Jr. all the way down to Dalton High senior Brendie Rockholt, who captured the Region 7-3A girls title on Tuesday, have all benefited from Fritz’ teaching abilities. That impact on the game in the Dalton area has led the Georgia State Golf Association to give Fritz its highest honor.

The GSGA recently announced that Fritz will be a member of the 2013 class of the Georgia Golf Hall of Fame. He will be inducted into the hall on January 19, 2013, at the annual banquet and induction ceremony along with Laura Coble of Augusta, John B. “Sonny” Ellis of Atlanta and Albert J. “Duck” Swann of Macon.

Be sure to read The Daily Citizen later this week for an upcoming feature on Fritz and his impact on the game in the area.
