Pacheco, Whittle win Dalton's St. Patrick's Day race
Isaac Pacheco and Allison Whittle claimed the overall male and female victories Thursday night as the 25th annual Dalton St. Patrick’s Day Road Race produced a record 293 runners.
North Ga. Speedway ready to drop green flag on new season
North Georgia Speedway is gearing up for a new season, and officials for the clay oval — billed on the speedway’s website as “the fastest 1/3-mile dirt track in the Southeast” — are excited about plans to bring some of the biggest dirt-track racing series to Chatsworth in 2012.
He’s got wheels now
Douglas Kerns used to be a runner. The Chatsworth resident would train and participate in 5K races, half marathons and other competitive running events. However, around three years ago, he suffered a foot injury that significantly reduced the amount of time he could spend on his former passion.
But that’s OK. Cycling became Kerns’ primary love, and he wouldn’t go back.
Better outlook for Georgia Cup on third trip to Dalton
The sun may finally shine on the Dalton Grand Prix.
The Carpet Capital’s stop on the Georgia Cup cycling circuit has been affected by rain to some degree each of its first two years, but as the event returns this weekend, today’s forecast is for cool temperatures, but sunny skies and no chance of precipitation.
