Area arrests

• James Paul Bethune, 25, 119 Hillwood Drive, Dalton, was charged Monday by the Dalton Police Department with possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance.

• Stephanie Lynnette Franklin, 36, 151 Ryan Way, Rocky Face, was charged Monday by the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office with aggravated assault and first degree cruelty to a child.

• Jose Lopez, 18, 427 Melinda St., Dalton, was charged Monday by the Dalton Police Department with sale of or intent to sell marijuana, possession of marijuana and possession of tools for the commission of a crime.

• Michael Patrick McGavin, 57, Chatsworth, was charged Monday by the Chatsworth Police Department with DUI and driving on the wrong side of the road.

• Michael Wade McKee, 46, 124 Ellis Lane, Chatsworth, was charged Monday by the Murray County Sheriff’s Office with possession of lorazepam.

• Carl Eugene Thompson, 46, 4245 Brown Bright Road, Dalton, was charged Monday by the Murray County Sheriff’s Office with possession of less than an ounce of marijuana.

• Brooke Michelle Knoll, 38, 850 Ponderosa Drive, Soddy-Daisy, Tenn., was charged Tuesday by the Dalton Police Department with drugs in wrong container, DUI-multiple substances and driving while license suspended or revoked.

• Loretta Sue Ponders, 51, 204 Allies Drive, Chatsworth, was charged Tuesday by the Murray County Sheriff’s Office with obstruction of an officer, possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute and possession of tools for the commission of a crime.

  • Police: Gun fired, man arrested following dispute on Morris Street (Updated 12:20 p.m.)

    A man has been arrested and charged with aggravated assault after firing a gun following a dispute at A-1 Towing at 1502 E. Morris St. in Dalton this morning, police said.
