Area arrests

• Jennifer Jean Collins-Merrill, 37, 579 Liberty Drive, Dalton, was charged Thursday by the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office with felony failure to appear.

• Johnny Randall Welch, 58, 1562 Old Federal Road S., Chatsworth, was charged Thursday by the Chatsworth Police Department with DUI and failure to drive within a single lane.

• Phillip Ray Cornette, 40, 4035 W. Parliament Drive, Cohutta, was charged Friday by the Dalton Police Department with terroristic threats and acts and criminal trespass.

• Sherman Lee Crabtree, 52, 244 Hardin Road, Chatsworth, was charged Friday by the Georgia State Patrol with DUI and following too closely.

• Marlon Lane Hammontree, 38, 142 Yarmouth Way, Dalton, was charged Friday by the Dalton Police Department with failure to keep drugs in original container, sale of a schedule 1 or 2 drug, a safety belt violation and an open container violation.

• Frank Dwight Mack Jr., 45, 1666 Woodlawn Road, Chatsworth, was charged Friday by the Georgia State Patrol with driving while license is suspended or revoked, reckless driving, felony theft by receiving a stolen vehicle, fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer, failure to wear helmets while riding on a motorcycle, failure to maintain lane, driving too fast for conditions, operating a vehicle without a proper tag or decal and no insurance.

• George Martel, 46, 17 Commons Lane, Ringgold, was charged Friday by the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office with aggravated assault and driving without a valid license.

• Joey Lynn Pack, 39, 58 Southern Road, Chatsworth, was charged Friday by the Dalton Police Department with possession of a schedule 2 drug.

• Katie Ellen Green, 34, 4754 Brown Bridge Road, Dalton, was charged Saturday by the Georgia State Patrol with driving while unlicensed, an open container violation, leaving the scene of an accident, DUI and failure to drive within a single lane.

• Ruben Hurtado, 27, 109 N. Hamilton St.-2C, Dalton, was charged Saturday by the Dalton Police Department with felony contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

• Mercedes Danielle Smith, 21, 68 Chandlers Ridge, Chatsworth, was charged Saturday by the Dalton Police Department with DUI and failure to maintain lane.

  • Police: Gun fired, man arrested following dispute on Morris Street (Updated 12:20 p.m.)

    A man has been arrested and charged with aggravated assault after firing a gun following a dispute at A-1 Towing at 1502 E. Morris St. in Dalton this morning, police said.

  • Bond hearings canceled for two charged in murder case

    Bond hearings for Fernando Resendiz and Jovencio Vega-Garcia, charged with murder and aggravated assault in connection with the fatal shooting of a security guard at Las Delicias on Morris Street in Dalton, have been canceled.

  • Suspect Photo 2.jpg DPD seeks identity of credit card theft suspects

    The Dalton Police Department is asking for the public’s help identifying two suspects who used a stolen credit card on March 31 to make purchases at two locations in Dalton. One of the suspects was captured on surveillance video at a gas station and the second suspect was described to investigators by witnesses.
