Police looking for answers in Glenwood wreck

Dalton police are still trying to determine what caused a two-vehicle wreck that closed down part of Glenwood Avenue for about seven hours on Wednesday.

Dalton Police Department spokesman Bruce Frazier said the wreck occurred about 10:20 a.m. and involved a 2008 Dodge Nitro driven by Linda Moore and a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Tobie Burke.

“She was traveling south on Glenwood, and he entered the roadway turning south from Performance Cycle. They collided, and she left the roadway and struck two power poles,” Frazier said.

Frazier said Moore was taken to Hamilton Medical Center for non-life-threatening injuries.

Dalton Utilities spokeswoman Lori McDaniel said the power lines remained energized despite the poles being knocked down and workers had to cut the power to make repairs. She said about 30 customers were briefly affected, but utility workers were able to isolate the outage to a smaller area affecting approximately 10 customers while making most of the repairs.

Frazier said at about 5:45 p.m. that Dalton Utilities workers had finished working on the damaged power poles and all lanes were re-opened.

Frazier said police are still investigating the wreck and want to talk to anyone who witnessed it. They are asked to call Officer Bart Chandler at (706) 278-9085, ext. 113.
