Area arrests

• Phillip Michael McDermitt, 32, 9391 W. 550 North, Delphi, Ind., was charged Saturday by the Chatsworth Police Department with obstruction of an officer, terroristic threats and acts, disorderly conduct, simple assault and aggravated assault.

• Charles Edward Bishop, 43, 463 Randall Road, Cave Spring, was charged Sunday by the state Department of Natural Resources with possession of less than an ounce of marijuana and possession of tools for the commission of crime (violation of the Georgia Controlled Substances Act).

• Robert Dewayne Brewer, 41, 516-45C Parkside Place, Dalton, was charged Sunday by the Dalton Police Department with possession of less than an ounce of marijuana, possession of meth and possession of drug-related objects.

• William Guy Revell, 44, 205 Kerison Drive, Dalton, was charged Sunday by the Dalton Police Department with theft by shoplifting, theft by bringing stolen property into the state and being a fugitive from justice.

• Donald Lynn Gravitt, 52, 1608 Beechland Place-2, Dalton, was charged Monday by the Dalton Police Department with DUI.

• Eddie Lawson Long Jr., 41, 112 Catalina Drive, Chatsworth, was charged Monday by the Georgia State Patrol with failure to drive within a single lane, DUI (second offense), a safety belt violation, driving too fast for conditions and driving without license on person.

• Jackie Lee Maney, 51, 1306 Underwood St.-16, Dalton, was charged Monday by the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office with possession of less than an ounce of marijuana and loitering/prowling.

• Jesus Torres-Garcia, 46, 513 Straight St., Dalton, was charged Monday by the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office with simple assault, DUI, two counts of reckless conduct, too fast for conditions, failure to maintain lane, duty upon striking fixed object and pedestrian under the influence of alcohol or drug.

  • Suspect in custody, will be taken to hospital for evaluation (Updated 9:35 p.m.)

    A man who reportedly barricaded himself on the second floor of a two-story building at 1029 S. Hamilton St. in Dalton, believed to have been armed, is now in custody and is on his way to the hospital for evaluation, officials said.
