Area arrests

• Mariano Azua Jr., 26, 126 Fort Way, Dalton, was charged Wednesday by the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office with possession of meth, sale of meth, two counts of possession of tools for the commission of crime, possession of meth to distribute, possession of hydrocodone and possession of meth.

• Alphonso Davis III, 22, 1692 Stoney Point Circle, Rocky Face, was charged Wednesday by the Dalton Police Department with possession of tools for the commission of crime and possession and use of drug-related objects.

• Haley Greene, 20, 81 Ridgeview Circle, Chatsworth, was charged Wednesday by the Dalton Police Department with possession of meth and possession of tools for the commission of crime.

• Jason Cayne McElwee Jr., 20, 219 Matlock Drive S.E., Dalton, was charged Wednesday by the Dalton Police Department with possession of meth, probation violation and possession and use of drug-related objects.

• Brian Nathan Morgan, 27, 5047 S. Dixie Highway, Resaca, was charged Wednesday by the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office with terroristic threats and acts.

• Joseph Verlon Ovbey Jr., 67, 1295 Mount Vernon Road, Tunnel Hill, was charged Wednesday by the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office with trafficking in sales of cocaine and sale of meth.

• Charles Danny Swanson, 56, 715 Keith Drive, Dalton, was charged Wednesday by the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office with sale of meth, possession of meth to distribute, use of communication facilities in drug transactions, possession of less than an ounce of marijuana, possession of meth and possession of tools for the commission of crime.

• Nathan Korey Wheeler, 21, 2506 Fescue Place-A, Dalton, was charged Wednesday by the Dalton Police Department with possession of meth and possession and use of drug-related objects.

• Rhonda Lynn Witt, 43, 1009 Cargal Drive, Dalton, was charged Wednesday by the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office with possession of meth to distribute, possession of a barbiturate to distribute, possession of meth and possession of tools for the commission of crime.

• Tomie Virginia Witt, 21, 715 Keith Drive, Dalton, was charged Wednesday by the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office with sale of meth, possession of meth to distribute, possession of hydrocodone, possession of meth, probation violation, possession of tools for the commission of crime and endangering security interest.

• Manuel Ortiz-Calderon, 31, 200 Golden Rod Lane, Dalton, was charged Thursday by the Dalton Police Department with DUI (drugs), failure to maintain lane and an open container violation.

  • Police: Gun fired, man arrested following dispute on Morris Street (Updated 12:20 p.m.)

    A man has been arrested and charged with aggravated assault after firing a gun following a dispute at A-1 Towing at 1502 E. Morris St. in Dalton this morning, police said.
