Area arrests

• Thomas Gordon Cox, 24, 147 LaFayette Road, Rocky Face, was charged Monday by the Dalton Police Department with a parole violation, theft by taking, loitering or prowling and having the wrong class of driver’s license.

• Miguel Angel Flores, 31, 11 Bollen St. S.W., Rome, was placed on hold Monday at the Whitfield County jail for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

• Thomas Ernest Jones, 37, 4984 Thornton CV N.W., Acworth, was charged Monday by the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office with possession of a schedule 4 drug, possession of opium, DUI (drugs), possession of tools for the commission of crime, obstruction of an officer by threat or violence, obstruction of a firefighter by threat or violence, interference with emergency medical services by threat or violence and failure to maintain lane.

• Juan Morente-Morente, 36, 325 Branham Ave., Rome, was placed on hold Monday at the Whitfield County jail for ICE.

• Charles Joshua Nelms, 32, 880 Manis Road, Dalton, was charged Monday by the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office with possession of less than an ounce of marijuana.

• Randall Lester Parker, 53, 243 Chevell Drive-A, Chatsworth, was charged Monday by the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office with terroristic threats and acts.

• Bradford Louis Russell, 43, 3958 Dug Gap Road S.W., Dalton, was charged Monday by the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office with DUI.

• Troy Jason Townsend, 36, 132 Jonathan Way, Rocky Face, was charged Monday by the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office with simple battery (family violence) and cruelty to a child.

  • Suspect in custody, will be taken to hospital for evaluation (Updated 9:35 p.m.)

    A man who reportedly barricaded himself on the second floor of a two-story building at 1029 S. Hamilton St. in Dalton, believed to have been armed, is now in custody and is on his way to the hospital for evaluation, officials said.
