Area arrests

• Christopher Lee Black, 36, 360 Center Hill Drive, Chatsworth, was charged Tuesday by the Georgia State Patrol with possession of cocaine and failure to maintain lane.

• Samantha Diane Cain, 18, 75 Noel Ayers Road, Cleveland, Tenn., was charged Tuesday by the Murray County Sheriff’s Office with possession of less than an ounce of marijuana and speeding.

• Earl William Chambers Jr., 36, 238 Windy Hill Drive, Fairmount, was charged Tuesday by the Georgia State Patrol with possession of cocaine, possession and use of drug-related objects and destroying or removing property subject to a security interest.

• Tammy Renee Colwell, 41, 216 Sunrise Lane, Chatsworth, was charged Tuesday by the Georgia State Patrol with DUI (drugs), failure to drive within a single lane and driving too fast for conditions.

• Stuart Edward Doty, 58, 519 Springhill Heights Circle, Tunnel Hill, was charged Tuesday by the Dalton Police Department with DUI, running a red light and improper lane change or usage.

• James Ellis Fleming, 57, 1178 Highway 225 S., Chatsworth, was charged Tuesday by the Georgia State Patrol with DUI.

• James Hernandez-Macario, 27, 11 Defender St., Cartersville, was placed on hold Tuesday at the Whitfield County jail for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

• Jeffery Wayne Nickels, 40, 1407 Mack St.-1, Dalton, was charged Tuesday by the Dalton Police Department with possession to distribute meth, possession of a schedule 3 drug, possession of meth and possession of tools for the commission of crime.

• Brandon Van Shirley, 23, 104 Nike Drive, Calhoun, was charged Tuesday by the Georgia State Patrol with possession of cocaine.

• Phillip Wesley Wilkerson, 22, 631 Fifth Ave., Dalton, was charged Tuesday by the Dalton Police Department with simple battery (family violence) and simple assault (family violence).

• Corey Ryan Blackwell, 17, 458 Trails End Way, Dalton, was charged Wednesday by the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office with possession of less than an ounce of marijuana, DUI under 21, a restricted license violation and no headlights when required.

• Troy Louis Haynes, 43, 505 Doughty Road, Pleasantville, N.J., was charged Wednesday by the Tunnel Hill Police Department with possession of meth and probation violation.

  • Suspect in custody, will be taken to hospital for evaluation (Updated 9:35 p.m.)

    A man who reportedly barricaded himself on the second floor of a two-story building at 1029 S. Hamilton St. in Dalton, believed to have been armed, is now in custody and is on his way to the hospital for evaluation, officials said.
