Area arrests

• Carlos Dewayne Dennard, 34, 207 Walker St.-1, Dalton, was charged Thursday by the Dalton Police Department with sale of cocaine, possession of cocaine and possession of tools for the commission of crime.

• Melissa Fawn Knight, 31, 329 Viewmont Drive, Tunnel Hill, was charged Thursday by the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office with probation violation, possession of meth and possession of tools for the commission of crime.

• Jacob Lee Parsons, 19, 3098 Five Springs Road, Dalton, was charged Thursday by the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office with burglary, willful obstruction of law officers and probation violation.

• Angela Marie Smith, 40, 225 Cheyenne Trail N.W., Dalton, was charged Thursday by the Dalton Police Department with possession of meth, unlawful for inmate to possess a controlled substance and possession of less than an ounce of marijuana.

• Sib Samuel Walker Jr., 49, 117 Rosemary Way, Dalton, was charged Thursday by the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office with drugs not in original container and possession of a schedule 4 drug.

• Jonathan Paul Williams, 28, 420 Coffey Church Road, Crandall, was charged Thursday by the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office with felony probation violation and parole violation.

• Bobby Lynn Merrell Jr., 23, 460 Hooker Road, Lot B, Chatsworth, was charged Friday by the Murray County Sheriff’s Office with obstruction of an officer, giving false information, battery (family violence) and third degree cruelty to children.

  • Police: Gun fired, man arrested following dispute on Morris Street (Updated 12:20 p.m.)

    A man has been arrested and charged with aggravated assault after firing a gun following a dispute at A-1 Towing at 1502 E. Morris St. in Dalton this morning, police said.

  • Bond hearings canceled for two charged in murder case

    Bond hearings for Fernando Resendiz and Jovencio Vega-Garcia, charged with murder and aggravated assault in connection with the fatal shooting of a security guard at Las Delicias on Morris Street in Dalton, have been canceled.

  • Suspect Photo 2.jpg DPD seeks identity of credit card theft suspects

    The Dalton Police Department is asking for the public’s help identifying two suspects who used a stolen credit card on March 31 to make purchases at two locations in Dalton. One of the suspects was captured on surveillance video at a gas station and the second suspect was described to investigators by witnesses.
