Pedestrian struck by vehicle sent to hospital

Police are investigating the details of a Saturday evening collision in which a man was struck by a vehicle on U.S. Highway 41 in Rocky Face.

Dalton Police Department spokesman Bruce Frazier said the a Toyota Prius was driving northbound on U.S. 41 near the Motel 6 at the intersection of Tibbs Road when a pedestrian “stepped out into the roadway in front of the car” and was hit.

The man was taken to Hamilton Medical Center with leg injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening.

“The driver of the Prius did stop at the scene and was interviewed by investigators with the Traffic Unit,” Frazier said. “No charges have been filed in this incident, and it is still being investigated.”

One lane of U.S. 41 North was closed from about 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. as emergency crews responded.
