Two days after authorities said she allegedly killed a convenience store clerk just outside of Dalton, Skyy Raven-Marie Mims was arrested in Bartow County.
Gavin Duffy of the U.S. Marshals Regional Fugitive Task Force out of Atlanta said marshals captured Mims in Bartow County around 5 p.m. on Tuesday. Several law enforcement agencies, including the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office and Georgia Bureau of Investigation, were involved in the search for the woman investigators believe killed Dahyabhai Kalidas Chaudmari, 37, originally from India, who was working at the Hi-Tech Fuel gas station at 3385 Airport Road.
Tuesday evening, Duffy said he didn’t have details on how authorities were able to capture Mims, who officials said fled with stolen lottery tickets and money from the cash register, but he said the arrest was the result of “solid police work.”
Authorities had expanded their search to Atlanta and Michigan. Mims’ last known address was Detroit.
Special Agent In Charge Greg Ramey of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation said no one was hurt during the arrest. He referred additional questions to the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office, where officials said they expected to release more information Tuesday night. As of 9:30 p.m., no additional details were available.
Ron Williamson, a manager for Hi-Tech Fuel who had high praise for Chaudmari, said he was “so glad” to hear the news of Mims’ arrest.
“Thank God that they caught her ... ” he said. “Of course, the justice system will take care of the rest of it.”
Ramey said in an earlier interview authorities were still investigating whether Mims and the store clerk knew one another, and, if so, what their connection was.
