Area arrests

• Benjamin Kirkland, 20, 811 College St., Carrollton, was charged Friday by the Whitfield County Sheriff’s office with possession of less than an ounce of marijuana, a windshield or windshield wiper violation and driving without a valid license.

• John Craig Ledford, 54, 55 Tom Wyatt Road, LaFayette, was charged Friday by the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office with possession of a schedule 4 drug, failure to maintain lane and driving while license is suspended or revoked.

• James Samuel Cox, 58, 1005 Cartwright Place, Dalton, was charged Saturday by the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office with DUI and a safety belt violation.

• Dana Kaye Crumpton, 43, 1311 Old Dalton Ellijay Road, Chatsworth, was charged Saturday by the Georgia State Patrol with failure to have license on person, not having insurance, DUI, failure to drive within a single lane and a safety belt violation.

• Joshua Michael Kenemore, 23, 313 Lawrence Drive, Ringgold, was charged Saturday by the Varnell Police Department with aggravated assault, DUI, failure to maintain lane, not having insurance, operating a motor vehicle while registration is suspended or revoked and a headlights violation.

• Javier Real, 27, 505 E. Woodland Drive-4, Dalton, was charged Saturday by the Dalton Police Department with battery (family violence, first offense), deposit account fraud and cruelty to a child.

• Jeffery Wayne Wardell, 46, 508 Red Cut Road, Chatsworth, was charged Saturday by the Dalton Police Department with criminal trespass, unlawful for an inmate to possess a controlled substance and possession of less than an ounce of marijuana.

• Willie Jewell Whaley, 27, 790 Beaverdale Road, Dalton, was charged Saturday by the Whitfield County Sheriff’s office with felony theft by conversion business property.
